TASK

Character Creation, Execution
For this task, we had to work on our splash art. To start off, I looked for some references from Wuthering Waves.

Fig 1.1 References

I did some thumbnail sketches of the backdrop for my splash art. I had several concepts in mind. The first one is him breaking the ground with chains, with light shining from behind. Next is set in a large room with tall pillars and hanging chains. The third shows him splitting a mountain, with light and chains bursting from the ground. And the last concept was to have spirit-like forms emerging from his hand while he stands inside the Shishi.

I continued by cleaning up the sketches and adding in more details to make it look more like a splash art. I combined several concepts here and came up with these designs.

I really liked the first splash art design, so I chose that to later finalize. Before coloring, I cleaned up the line art and made slight tweaks here and there until I'm satisfied.

I then filled in the base colors for every component of the splash art.

I continued to the rendering process by adding in lights and shadows.

Having Junsheng just pasted there looks a bit off as he doesn't blend with the environment that well. To fix this, I adjusted some of the colors, and added in more lights and shadows.

Once combined, with some more rendering and adjustments, this is how the splash art turned out.

REFLECTION

Comparing my work to the ones ingame, I definitely have lots to learn and practice to reach that level of work. Despite that, I'm really satisfied with how the splash art looked. I think I could've spent more time on making a more metallic look on the Shishi. I also could've added light streaks from the ground, although that might be a little too much.
