PRATICAL
For the final version of the collage, I tweaked the positioning and size of some elements to make it fit the rule of thirds composition better. I also added more leaves to make the plant look more 'full'. Since I liked the flowers I did for the third composition in the previous week, I also decided to put that into the final version. In addition, I placed another texture layer on top of the typewriter to blend it better into the scene.

To make the elements fit the scene, I added the rust texture on the typewriter to make it look old by using the hard light blending mode. I also added shadows by duplicating another layer of the typewriter set in the multiply blending mode. I erased some sections that would not be affected by the shadows to make it look more realistic too. I also used the color burn blending mode for the rust texture under the typewriter so the keys could pop up.

Since I used the fish tail as a part of the plant, it looks quite out of place. For it to blend better with the leaves, I used the hue/saturation and curves adjustment layers to match the leaves. I applied the same to the flowers so that the color didn't stick out too much. To create a better separation between the leaves and flowers, I also manually drew shadows whenever its necessary.

Since the moon looked quite flat, I used the liquify tool to make it look more circular. I also duplicated another moon layer set on the multiply blending mode, and erased its center to create shadows.

To further push the post-apocalyptic theme I was going for, I also changed the color of the sky to a grey-ish maroon using the hue/saturation adjustment layer.

To finalize my collage, I applied the curves adjustment layer to help make the collage look more striking and more cohesive overall. I also applied the noise filter to create a grain effect in my collage.

As the fires of the apocalypse subsided, the earth lay scorched and is left to ashes. Under the rising heat, the heavens turned red. Although despair seemed to be all that remain, delicate but defiant, life kept holding on; sprouting even from the most obscure places.
REFLECTION
I think this has to be my favorite project so far as I really enjoyed the process behind it. From laying out the elements, the editing, and applying the things I've learned, the overall experience was very fun. I'm glad with how the results turned out because I poured a lot of effort in it, and the way it all came together was very satisfying.
